Practice 9:42
Chris: It’s practice time. Today, let’s practice another linking word, namely “or”. Now, once again, rhythm is the really important thing here, you got catch that rhythm. But this time, “or” indicates a choice, so choice is the key word. A or B, A or B.
OK, here we go,
- Which color do you like, red or bule?
Red, choose choose chose … or blue. Another one.
- I’m not sure if that was brave or stupid.
Next one.
- Do you agree or disagree?
Roza: Here are the couple more.
- Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is scared to aboriginal people.
Next one.
- 50 or 60 people attended the party.
Chris: OK, continuing on.
- either John or Mary
- I don’t care whether you’re exhausted or not.
- whether you like it or not
- for better or for worse
Roza:
That was great. Now, let’s do one last example.
- You have to, or it’ll keep making that noise.
Chris: OK, that one is directly from the dialogue, isn’t it, Roza?
Roza: It is. So, let’s try it one more time.
- You have to, or it’ll keep making that noise.
Chris: OK guys. Wonderful, well cone.
Roza: Excellent work.
Here is ~ のようにも聞こえます。
Ending
Ohnishi: Hey Chris, taxi drivers in London are so good, aren’t they?
Chris: They are amazing. Did you know they have to take a special test called “The Knowledge”, which is said to be the most difficult test in the world.
Ohnishi: Really?
Chris: They have to know the tiny streets and every landmark … amazing.
Ohnishi: というわけで、今日はこの辺で。
All: Bye.
