Opening

Akino Roza here.

David: And I’m David Evans. Roza, you can tell me your secret? I won’t tell anyone, probably.

Roza:

Ohnishi:

probably 3:27

David: Sometimes we shorten to probably.(プロブリィ)

Roza: And if you use it in the middle of a sentence, you can say probably,(プロリィ)like “You are probably(プロリィ)right.” But is very casual.

Practice 10:30

Roza: OK guys. Let’s practice talking about ひ・み・つ.

David: OK everyone. Let’s practice together. Here we go.

  • You cannot tell anyone.
  • This is not to be shared with anyone.
  • I’m telling you this in confidence.

Roza: Let’s continue to a few more.

  • This must stay private.

Do you hear that “must stay” kind of connects right there? Let’s try it one more time.

  • This must stay private.
  • I can’t have this getting out.
  • Promise me you won’t say a word.

David: All right. Let’s keep it going.

  • Can you keep a secret?
  • You must promise to keep it to yourself, OK?
  • Please keep it under your hat.
  • Keep your mouth shut about it, OK?

Roza: Hey David, can you keep a secret?

David: Probably not.

Roza: Well, that’s OK because it’s about our listeners doing excellent in the practice.

David: Oh good. Great job everyone.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey guys, “juicy ” is an interesting word, isn’t it? What exactly does it mean?

David: “Juicy” feels delicious and ready to eat, so for a gossip and rumors, it’s a really good, interesting peace of news.

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.
