Onishi:
Listening Challenge
Monday
David: OK, let’s review this week’s dialogs.
Roza: Listen to the questions and pick which one of the three options is the correct answer.
David: Let’s start with Monday’s dialog.
Roza: OK guys, here is the question.
Who is Tom?
- A high school ALT.
- A friend from the shogi club.
- A famous movie star.
Listen carefully.
How did you do? Let’s go over the question one more time.

Say It in English
Roza: OK, here is the first situation. Imagine this.
OK, all things will go well. The presentation is in 20 minutes. Please make sure the computer is turned on and slides are prepared. You can do it.
David: All right, let’s move on to the next situation. Imagine this.
Hello, thanks for inviting us over today. We are happy that finally we can meet you. Dave always tells me about your paintings. I can’t wait to see your pictures.
Ending
Onishi: Actually, I used a phase “It’s so great to finally meet you in person” a lot when I meet somebody in person.
Roza: You know, another interesting phrase that’s used in a similar situation when you haven’t ever seen what the person looks like is “It’s great to finally put a face to the name”.
David: Oh, that’s a good one. One I always wanted to use is “Your reputation precedes you”, but I don’t think it gets much daily use.
All: Bye.
