Opening

Round two, fight!

Roza: Hey everyone. Akino Roza here. Today’s opening was not as good as yesterday’s opening, Sensei.

Chris: Hi guys. Chris McVay here. Roza, I want to eat something sweet. Do you have any Belgian chocolates?

Roza: I have some Japanese chocolates, but they are as good as fine Belgian chocolates.

Chris: Good, as long as they are as good as fine Belgian chocolates, that’s OK.

Ohnishi:

as long as they are as good as fine Belgian chocolates ^^

“ask away” 3:03

Ohnishi: So, what is the nuance of “ask away” here?

Roza: Well, I think it’s kind of like, just go ahead and ask as much as you want.

Chris: Yeah, don’t hold back, feel free. It’s a bit like, you know, a boat which is tighten to the jetty, you untie the knot and hoo! off the boat goes.

Roza: Yeah, really it has that feeling of hoo …!

Practice 9:45

Roza: OK guys, let’s practice the key sentence together. Now, I think a lot of our listeners perhaps have a problem with “as good as”, because maybe you tend to put a pause between as … good … as, so you think of it as separate words, right? So, my advice is, don’t stop between those words, connect them, make them flow. So, this will make it much easier for you to use this phrase. As good as, as good as, got it? OK now, let’s practice the key sentence. “They are as good as fine Belgian chocolates.”

One more time. “They are as good as fine Belgian chocolates.”

Great job.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey Roza, do you like chocolate?

Roza: Yes, I love chocolate, especially chocolate with salt. What about you, Chris.

Chris: Hum, I like that too, but the chocolate has to be dark. A minimum of seventy percent coco.

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.

この minimum も難しかったです。^^;
