Ohnishi: ♫

Roza:

Ohnishi:

Roza:

Chris: Chris McVay here. Roza, I have a question for you.

Roza: What’s that?

Chris: Aren’t you glad we’ve met?

Roza: Yes, you gave me a credit card, I mean your card at that bar.

Roza: Our textbook is the tastiest you’ll ever have.

Practice 9:55

Chris: OK, guys. It’s practice time. Today, we are going to practice the verb get. Now, get always contains some feeling of a process that’s involved. Therefor the image is of motion before something arrives into your hands. So, let’s practice with that feeling and that image in mind.

Roza: And remember, to think in English.

Chris: So, after me, “get a letter”, “get a birthday card”, “get the chance”, and a few more, “get an A in English”, “get a lesson”, “get the money”.

You can feel the process in all of these examples, Roza?

Roza: Let’s continue with some more examples, “get a ticket”, “get the flu”, “get a checkup”, “get a haircut”.

Chris: OK, let’s continue, “I don’t get it”, once more, “I don’t get it.”

Roza: And the last one, “I’ll get you a chai”, one more time, “I’ll get you a chai.”

Chris: Well done guys.

Roza: You’ve got it.

Ending

Ohnishi: Maybe a better version of “I’ll get you an umbrella.“ is something like, “I’m not having you go out in the rain without an umbrella.”

Chris: Too romantic.

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.
