Opening
Ohnishi: バラはなぜ美しいか?-枯れる前に摘むからだよ。
ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。
Roza: バラが美しいって私のこと?
Ohnishi: はいはい。
Chris: Dream on …
Roza: Hey everyone. Akino Roza here. Ready for today’s lesson?
Chris: Hi guys. Chris McVay here. By the way Roza, how would you like your steak?
Roza: Hum, I like my steak medium-rare.
Chris: Huh, do you know how I like my steak?
Roza: How’s that?
Chris: I like it blue.
Ohnishi: さ、それではさっそく始めていきましょう。
rare より生に近いのを blue と言うらしいです。
blue 4:18
Ohnishi: Do you really like that?
Chris: Actually, I was lying. I like it medium-rare, too.
lie に ing を付けると lying ですね。

Practice 10:35
Chris: OK, guys. It’s practice time. Now I know some of you are interested in etymology, so, the original meaning of want is to be lacking. So, this naturally leads to the meaning of a strong desire to get what is lacking. So, with that in mind, let’s practice together. OK?
Roza: Now I know you guys want to think in English, right?
Chris: Here we go then, “Would you like some coffee?” Once again, after me, “Would you like some coffee?”
Roza: Next example, “I want to go to England.” You have that missing feeling, “I want to go to England.”
Chris: Next one, “want you back”. So, this is a kind of relationship thing, right? The person you love is gone away and you say, ah, I want you back … “want you back”, try?
“want you to come”, “would like you to do that”.
Roza: And the last example, “You want to be a bit more careful.”
Chris: Well done guys.
Roza: Great job.
etymology で「語源(語源学)」です。
Ending
Ohnishi: Hey guys, is there anything you really want?
Roza: Yeah, I really want a horse.
Chris: Oh, so if, it has to something beginning with h, I really want some hair.
Roza: Well, in that case, if I get my horse, I can give you some horse hair.
Chris: Ah, no thank you.
Ohnishi: というわけで今日はこの辺で。
All: Bye!
horse は馬ですが、hose だとホース(管)の意味です。ちなみに hose は「ホウズ」と発音するらしいので注意です。(知らんかった)
