Opening
Roza: Hey everyone. Akino Roza here. Let’s get started before Ohnishi-Sensei says anything else.
Chris: Huh, Chris McVay here. Sorry guys, I’ve just been jogging before coming here, so yeah, let’s start.
Ohnishi:
“regular people” 4:14
Ohnishi: Can “ordinary people” be used here?
Roza: Well, ordinary has kind of a nuance of looking down. So, I would say it’s not very good to use here.
Chris: Yeah, I think it’s better to use regular because regular is a neutral word. So, it’s safe.
Chris: Well, I guess many of you listen to our program just before breakfast. Thank you for your continued support.
Practice 10:40
Chris: OK, are you in the mood for practicing? Let’s look at before. A B C …, 1 2 3 …, it’s all about order. A comes before B, B before C, 1 before 2, 2 before 3. You got it? OK, with that in mind, let’s practice together. Here we go, “Shibuya comes before Ebisu.” “before lunch”, “before six o’clock”, “before that”, “before long”.
Roza: Continuing on, “Family comes before work.” This is talking about importance, right? “Business before pleasure.” “before all”.
Chris: OK, let’s keep going. So, this is from the dialogue, “I made you before I made him.” So, you came what order, what order … before him. That’s all.
Roza: And the last view, “I’ve seen it before.” “two weeks before Christmas”, “long before we met”.
Chris: Well done, guys. Great.
Roza: Before we move on to the next section, I’d like to say that was fantastic.
Ending
Ohnishi: Radio Eikaiwa comes before work.
Chris: What? Are you saying that Radio Eikaiwa is not work?
Ohnishi: Yeah. It is a lot of fun, not work for me.
Ohnishi:
All: Bye.
