Opening
Roza: Hey guys. Akino Roza here.
Ohnishi:
Chris: Chris McVay here. Now, sorry, I have to say I was disappointed with that opening.
Practice 10:10
Chris: It’s practice time. Are you ready? So, today, we are going to focus on past participle adjectives. They focus on the emotion, a person experiences, that’s all. So, with that in mind, let’s practice.
Here we go, “I think they were relieved more than anything else.” So, a strong emotion there, relieved. Let’s try again, “I think they were relieved more than anything else.”
Roza: Moving on, “Some guests were bored by the speeches.” So, here we have the guests and their feelings, we were bored. Let’s try one more time, “Some guests were bored by the speeches.”
Chris: OK, another one, “People seemed excited to learn that Barry King is my uncle.” This is from the dialogue, right? So, here we go again, “People seemed excited to learn that Barry King is my uncle.”
Roza: Great, and now let’s go through a list of common emotions, are you ready? “I was excited.” “I was thrilled.” “I was satisfied.” “I was pleased.” “I was disgusted.” “I was surprised.”
Chris: OK, I think you did a wonderful job.
Roza: That’s right, me too. I’m very pleased with your progress.
Ending
Ohnishi: Hey guys, what would you do if someone’s speech was so long, you got bored?
Chris: I would fall asleep and snore loudly.
Roza: So, basically, the thing you do when Sensei keeps talking on and on, right?
Chris: How did you know?
Ohnishi:
All: Bye.
