Ohnishi: いやぁこの間スーパーに買い物に行ったら248円でどろ付き長ネギが売ってたんだけどよく見ると値下げして100円になってたから2つ買っていったんだよね。家族にほめられたのは、5年ぶりだったんですよねー。

Roza: 今日もドロドロしたオープニングでしたね。 Hey everyone. Akino Roza here.

David: And I’m David Evans. It’s been a while since I’ve heard a good joke here.

Ohnishi: さぁそれでは今週も、頑張っていきましょう。

David: If it’s been a while since you’ve last listened, I recommend the textbook. Check it out.

Roza: That would be lovely.

David: OK everyone. It’s practice time. Today, we will use names, you don’t have to use the name, but it’s good practice. So, here we go.

• Hi. How are things, Nancy?

Roza: OK, next example.

• Hello, Mr. Evans. How are you?

David: Very nice. Let’s try another.

• Hi. How are you doing?

And again.

• Hi. How are you doing?

Roza: And let’s try a few more with several different versions, OK?

• Hi, Helen. What’s up?

Another one.

• Hi, Helen. What’s new?

There is also a version where you can use “sup”, which is a really casual expression of “what’s up”. So, let’s try that together.

• Hi, Helen. Sup?

Roza: That was excellent work.

David: Very nice.

David: So, Sensei, let’s have coffee after this.

Ohnishi: Oh, that will be nice.

Roza: Ah, you should use “would” here. “will” sounds a bit presumptuous.
