さぁしっかりと、今日も頑張っていきましょう。盛りだくさんのレッスンです。

Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza. You know, I’m a big fan of Ohnishi Hiroto.

Ohnishi: えぇ、本当？

Roza: うそだよ。

Ohnishi: 食い気味できたね。

David: And I’m David Evans. All right guys, it’s time to get started. Here we go.

Ohnishi:  さぁそれでは、さっそく始めていきましょう。

Roza: OK guys, it’s time to practice.

David: You can use these a lot in daily life, so let’s have fun.

Roza: These sentences are pretty light, so I want you to enjoy them as you practice.

David: Here we go.

• Hey, can you lend me 500 yen?
• Hey, can you hand me that pen?
• Hey, can you close the door?
• Hey, can you carry my bag?

Roza: Let’s continue.

• Hey, will you open this bottle?
• Hey, will you set the table?
• Hey, will you help clean up?
• Hey, will you watch the kids?

David: Great work so far. Make sure we keep that “Hey” nice and light so you don’t sound like you are angry.

Roza: Good point David.

David: All right, let’s keep going.

• Could you please pause the movie?
• Could you please pass the salt?
• Would you please keep your voice down?

Roza: Hey, that was great, guys.

David: Very good.

Ohnishi: Hey David, do you use folks to mean parents?

David: Yes, I do. Certainly for me, growing up, my folks has always been my parents. How about you, Roza?

Roza: I don’t personally really use it but I hear it a lot.
