Opening

Onishi: さぁ今回は、今月の通常レッスン最後となりました。みなさんよくここまで頑張りました。4月5月と続けることができたなら、一年間しっかりと続けることができますよ。

ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。

Roza: This is beyond my wildest dreams. I can't believe it. We're already at the end of May. This is Akino Roza.

David: And I'm David Evans. Great work getting this far. I can't wait to see what waits for us next.

Onishi: それでは、さっそく始めていきましょう。

Grasp the Concept
  • That's probably beyond our budget.
  • It's beyond my comprehension.
  • Sorry, this is beyond repair.

Roza: Great job.

Practical Usage

これはディクテーションじゃなくて、自分の答えです。

It's a wonderful device but it's really beyond my budget. 350k JPY for a smartphone? It's extremely expensive. This is beyond belief.

「高いにもよどがあります」が難しかった

Pronunciation Polish 12:50

David: All right everyone. It's time for today's pronunciation polish. First, let's check out today's sentence. "This is beyond my wildest dreams" ...

All right, we are gonna zoom in on two or three main points today. First is linking between this and is. Let's try it together. Here we go. This_is ... This_is beyond ...

All right, next up we have the word dreams. At the start, we have d-r together, so let's practice the /dr/ sound. /dr/ ... dreams ... do you hear that last s? You don't need to emphasize the /z/ sound, so nice and short. dreams ... my wildest dreams ...

All right, great work so far, let's put it all together.

  • This_is beyond my wildest dreams!

Great job. Don't worry if it's not perfect. Just keep practicing. You've got this.

Ending

Onishi: さぁ今回のレッスンもこれで終わりです。おつかれさまでした。言葉の学習は、続けることが肝心ですよ。ゆっくり、着実に、これからも学んでいきましょう。

Roza: That's right. I want you guys to keep thinking that, nothing is beyond your ability. Keep going and you'll get there.

David: That's right everyone. Keep it up and you'll be there in no time.

Onishi: というわけで、今日はこの辺で。

All: Bye.
