おはようございます。#ラジオ英会話 のディクテーションです。

なんかうまくいかないときは、気にしない・・・じゃなくて、何が原因かを考える、かな ^^

Opening

Onishi: ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。

さぁ今日も、がんばりますよ。

Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza. We're so excited to have you back for today's lesson.

David: That's right. Hi everyone. I'm David Evans.

Onishi: それでは、さっそくはじめていきましょう。

バッテリーがなくなる 2:39

Onishi: How do you say バッテリーがなくなる in English, without using die?

David: Ah, run out?

Roza: Or you would say "My phone is dead".

"I understand." vs. "I got it." 3:35

Onishi: So, David, what's the difference between "I understand" and "I got it"?

David: So, "got it" is much more casual, and it almost feels dismissive, ah so, in this case, we have a serious emotion, so "I understand" is a little more formal and better here.

Essential Expressions

Don't let this happen again.

  • Never share your password with anyone.
  • Don't you ever forget what I told you.
  • Stop complaining.
  • Quit complainig.

Roza: Great job.

Practical Usage

これはディクテーションじゃなくて、自分の作文です

Hey, stop blaming yourself. It wasn't your fault. You did your best. Don't you ever forget this.

Don't you ever ~ だと強すぎるか ^^

Pronunciation Polish 13:05

David: OK everyone. It's time for today's pronunciation polish. Let's check out today's phrase.

  • Don't let this happen again.

OK, it's short and sweet but it's also pretty heavy, so let's practice each point and master it together.

First up, we have the /t/ sound at the end of Don't and let. These will disappear. Let's practice together. Don't ... let ... Don't let, Don' let this ...

Next up, we'll join happen and again, happen again ...

OK, now let's start to put it together.

  • Don't let this happen again.

OK, and now we'll speed it up.

  • Don't let this happen again.

All right guys, you're doing great. Progress may be slow but you're doing better. Never forget that.

Ending

Onishi: Hum, some people say "I tend to blame myself", it's a bad habit.

David: Ah, Sensei, don't be so hard on yourself. We are our own worst critic.

Roza: Yeah, but I mean, I understand. I too oftentimes blame you when things don't go well.

Onishi: Don't blame me. というわけで、今日はこの辺で。

All: Bye.
