Opening
Ohnishi: いやぁ、お気に入りの服を着ていこうと思ったら、タンスに無いことってありますよねー。また変な場所に置いたのかなー、と思っていたら・・・
Roza: と思っていたら・・・
Ohnishi: 捨てられてたのでしたー。
ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。
Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza.
David: And I’m David Evans. I’ll ??? I lose cloths only to find I’m wearing them.
Ohnishi: さぁそれでは、さっそく始めていきましょう。
ここ何かな？ドゥーズって言ってるように聞こえますが。→ I lose cloths … ですね。服探してたら自分が着てた、と。エックスで教えてもらいました。

Roza: OK everyone. It’s time to practice. Now today, we’ll be talking about being sure, so be sure to emphasize those parts when you practice.
David: All right. Let’s jump ride right in. Here is our first.
- I’m sure he’ll understand.
- I’m certain he’ll understand.
- I’m convinced he’ll understand.
Did you hear my accent with “convinced”? really leaning to that “vin” in the middle.
Roza: OK, let’s continue.
- He is sure to win.
Emphasizing the word “sure” as well as saying the word slower also emphasizes it. Let’s try another version.
- He is bound to win.
David: I like how the explosive “b” sound makes the impact of that word much stronger.
Roza: Good point, David.
David: All right, let’s continue.
- Without a shadow of a doubt they’ll win.
- Beyond a shadow of a doubt they’ll win.
- In all likelihood they’ll win.
Roza: OK, our last example.
- I guarantee you she’ll say yes.
Let’s try that one more time.
- I guarantee you she’ll say yes.

David: Very nice job.

Ohnishi: Ha ha, “Nothing stays where I put it”, that happens, right?
David: More often that I’d like to admit, yes.
Ohnishi: Ah, I can’t find my glasses.
Roza: Sensei, you are wearing them.
Ohnishi: Oh, 捨てられたかと思った。というわけで、今日はこの辺で。
