Opening

Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David: And I’m David Evans.

Ohnishi:

Practice 9:55

David: All right everyone. Today’s practice is about disappointment. Not everything goes as planed or as hoped, so these are good phrases to have available when you feel that way.

Roza: We hope the practice section won’t disappoint you though.

David: We won’t let you down. Let’s jump in.

  • I was disappointed.
  • That was disappointing.

Be careful, not to mix up the -ed and the -ing versions, OK?

Roza: Let’s continue.

  • I had such high hopes for that.
  • That wasn’t what I’d hoped.

David: Let’s continue.

  • It’s a pity that you can’t come.
  • It’s a shame that you can’t come.
  • It’s too bad that you can’t come.

And here is a few more.

  • What a shame!
  • What a pity!

Roza: And our last one.

  • That was anticlimactic.

Well, I hope the practice wasn’t anticlimactic.

David: I think you all did a great job.

Roza: Excellent work.

Ending

I want to see that.

Roza: You know, I’d recommend against it, ah, it was quite anticlimactic.

David: Yeah, it could be interesting but, ah, it was a bit of a letdown. It has so much potential, though.

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.
