Ohnishi: ラジオ英会話ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。
さぁ今月は説明ルールまとめの月、難しいトピックもありますががんばっていきましょう。
Roza: Hey everyone. Akino Roza here. Chris, what happened to your table?
Chris: Hi everybody. Chris McVay here. Well Roza, I was going to ask you the same thing because your desk is a real mess.
Ohnishi: さぁそれでは、今月もがんばっていきましょう。
happened の ~ed のところは、ほとんど聞こえないですね。

Ohnishi: Ah Roza, could you explain this word “mess”?
Roza: Sure, so “a mess” is like things are scattered all over the place. It’s not neat, it’s disheveled, you know, kind of like your office.
scatter は「まき散らす」、dishevel は「（服装などを）乱す」です。

Chris: OK guys, it’s practice time. ノッてるかい？ So, as usual, we have to grasp the native speaker’s rhythm here. And if we read it like this “Luckily, the things …” the things? what things? … There is an information gap that needs to be filled and this case, we are going to fill it with the past participle. “Luckily the thing stolen …”, “stolen” explains what kind of things so with that in mind, let’s practice after me, are you ready? “Luckily the things stolen aren’t so valuable”, try?
Come on, you can do better than that. Once more? “Luckily the thing … what things? … the things stolen aren’t so valuable”, together, “Luckily the things stolen aren’t so valuable”.

past participle は「過去分詞」です。
現在分詞は present participle ですね。
