Opening

Ohnishi: ラジオ英会話ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。

さぁ今日もしっかり頑張っていきますよ。

Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza. Welcome back and let’s get started.

Chris: Chris McVay here. Ah, Oxford, the City of Spires, how nostalgic. Now we can start.

Ohnishi: それではさっそく始めていきましょう。

spires というのは「尖塔」のことを言うみたいですね。

ダイアログ和訳の後 4:18

Roza: You know, I’ve always wanted to read the Radio-Eikaiwa textbook. Can you take me to the bookstore Chris?

Chris: Sure, how about next Saturday?

Roza: That would be wonderful.

Practice 9:00

Chris: OK, guys. Are you ready for our final practice with the verb, take? Going right back to the beginning, the simple image of outstretching, and then to get something, and then to use something. Today, we are going to focus on taking and going somewhere. Take something, take someone and off you go. Let’s begin.

Roza: And don’t think in Japanese.

Chris: Exactly. “Take your umbrella, OK?” Try it?

You can see it’s going to rain so, take it, and go with it. That’s all. One last time, “Take your umbrella, OK?”

Roza: The same thing applies in this next example. “Don’t forget to take your driver’s license with you.”

So, you take your driver’s license, and you go somewhere. One last time, “Don’t forget to take your driver’s license with you.”

Chris: OK, continuing, “I’ll take you home in my car.”

Exactly the same feeling, so let’s just get straight into the repetition. “I’ll take you home in my car.”

Roza: Here is the last example, “My job took me all over Japan.”

So here we have my job – takes me – and goes all over Japan, same idea. One last time, “My job took me all over Japan.”

Fantastic.

Chris: Great stuff.

Ending

Ohnishi: Chris, have you been to Stonehenge?

Chris: Of course, I was one of the original builders. No, no, I’m not that old. Yes, I’ve been a couple of time, just a really mysterious place.

Roza: What about Woodhenge? Have you ever been there?

Chris: I haven’t, I don’t think so. It’s not far, is it?

Roza: It’s pretty close, yeah.

・・・・

Ohnishi: それでは、今日はこの辺で。

All: Bye.
