Practice 9:55
Chris: OK are we ready for practice? We are going to keep on practicing on. Now, you know the basic image of contact or touching, now you imagine touching a line, and on that line, we have movement, movement along the line. So, with that in mind, let’s practice together.
Roza: And keep on thinking in English.
Chris: Good point. Here we go, “I live on the Yamanote Line.” “I live on the river.” “I live on the border of Saitama and Tokyo.”
Roza: Here are few more and these are also very easy to imagine with that line image, “on my way home”, “on the right track”, “on good terms with ~”.
Chris: OK, more, “keep on working”, “walk on”, “read on”, “Life goes on.” “from now on”, and here is a funny one brings back memories, “She is always on at me to clean my room.”
Good job everyone. I think we are on the right track, how about you, Roza?
Roza: I think so too. Great job, guys.
bring back memories で「いろんな思い出がこみあげてくる」です。(英辞郎から)
Ending
Ohnishi: Hey guys, what do you usually do on your way home?
Chris: Well, I hurry straight home because I’ve missed my wife so much.
Roza: No, on your way home, you are actually talking to your wife on video camera. I’ve seen you do it, Chris?
Chris: Ah, I can’t hide anything from you, Roza.
Ohnishi: というわけで今日はこの辺で。
All: Bye.
I hurry straight home because I’ve missed my wife so much. は「奥さんが居ないと寂しいから=奥さんに会いたいので、さっさと帰る。」って感じですね。I’ve missed ~ じゃなくて I miss ~ かもです。
