Opening
Hey everyone. Akino Roza here.
Chris: I feel very cold all of a sudden in the studio but anyway, Chris McVay here. And by the way, I love つけ麺.
Ohnishi: なるほど、さぁそれではさっそく始めていきましょう。
英語でも「寒い」んですね。
ダイアログ和訳の後 4:45
Chris: As far as English grammar is concerned, our textbook has “the works”. Check it out.
Practice 10:25
Chris: Are you ready for today’s practice? Today, we are looking at across. The basic image is “of a cross”, and from there we get the idea of from one side to another. OK? So, with that in mind, let’s begin.
Roza: And remember, to think in English.
Chris: Here we go, “They swam across the river.” So, you get the picture of this side of the river … swim, swim, swim … and you get to the other side, you go across the river. So, once more, “They swam across the river.” “There’s an excellent café across the street.”
Roza: Continuing on, “I hitchhiked across Australia.” So, you can imagine … I hitchhiked from one side to the other of Australia. Next example, “across the board”.
Chris: Continuing on, “I came across a review of this restaurant with your name and photo.” Once more, “I came across a review of this restaurant with your name and photo.”
Roza: And our last example, “How can I get this point across to them?” One more time, “How can I get this point across to them?”
You guys went excellent.
Chris: Well done. Great job.
get the picture で合ってるかなぁ。
Ending
・・・・・
Chris: Well, you know, most learners find prepositions really difficult, but we hope our image-based approach will help you to use them with more confidence.
Roza: That’s right. And remember, all you have to do is practice, practice, practice.
Ohnishi: というわけで、今日はこの辺で。
All: Bye.
