Opening
Ohnishi: ここで一句「江守さん、俳句は読まず、デートのみ」
ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西です。
Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza. Reay for today’s lesson?
Chris: Hi guys, today the train stopped so, I ended up coming to the studio by hitchhike.
Roza: Nice one, Chris.
Ohnishi: もちろん皆さん、冗談ですよ。
Chris: Anyway, I hope you are all looking forward to today’s lesson.
Ohnishi: さぁそれでは今日も、頑張っていきましょう。

Roza: Although our textbook doesn’t have any haiku, it has a section called Chris’s ramblings. Check it out.
ここ、めちゃくちゃ苦労しました。section called が section code に聞こえたのと、Chris’s ramblings がテキストの中にある連載だと言うことになかなか気づけなくて。。。^^
Practice 10:30
Chris: OK guys, it’s practice time again, and today, we are looking at the word up. Now, it has a simple image of movement in an upward direction, but I think you are going to be amazed by how this naturally leads to a massive variety of uses. It might mean more work for you though. Anyway, let’s get started with the practice.
Roza: And guys, listen up, you’d better just think in English when you practice, OK?
Chris: “stand up”, “get up”, “give up”, “look up to”, “speak up”, “listen up”, “Prices went up.”
Roza: Let’s continue, “Something has come up.” “What’s up?” “think up”, “come up with”.
Chris: OK, and a few more, “Fill it up.” “Shut up.” “drink ~ up”, “eat ~ up”, “clean ~ up”, “be fed up with ~”.
Roza: And a last few, “Cheer up.” “wake up”, “stay up”, “sit up”.
Chris: Well, as we often say, never give up.
Roza: You’ll find your English skills going up, up, up.
うーん、ここは自信ないっす。で、ツィッターで教えてもらいました。
最初 movement in upward direction としていましたが、movement in an upward direction ですかね。
英辞郎見てみたら in an upward direction = 上方向に、と出てました。
it might mean ~ は、it might me と間違っていたのを、こちらも教えてもらいました。
Ending
Ohnishi: Hey guys, could you please speak up? I can’t hear you.
Chris: It would help if you take off your earphones.
Ohnishi: Oops.
Roza: Huh, it’s OK. We forgive you because it’s you.
Ohnishi: と言うわけで、今日はこの辺で。
