Roza: もったいないね。Hey everyone. Akino Roza here.

David: And I’m David Evans. I have most of must have done that a hundred times myself.

Ohnishi:  Oh, really? さぁそれでは、さっそく始めていきましょう。

David: All right everyone. It’s time for the practice. Roza, what we focus on today?

Roza: Well, I’d like to focus on the two different ways of saying these sentences. First, there is the neutral way. “We’d like to hear your opinion”, then there is another way to emphasize “you”, “We’d like to hear your opinion”. This “your opinion” gives a nuance of contrast, other people have said their opinion, now we want to hear “your opinion”. Keep that in mind, you don’t have to use it with every sentence but that’s an option.

David: Excellent point. All right guys, let’s begin.

• Could you share your opinion with us?
• What’s your opinion about it?
• We’d like to hear your opinion.

All of those were the standard, neutral way of saying it.

Roza: OK, let’s continue. Now, let’s try emphasizing the “your”.

• What are your thoughts on that?
• What is your view on that?

David: Makes me feel special like the spot lights on me.

Roza: Good imagery.

David: Yeah, all right, let’s continue.

• Would you tell us what you think?
• Would you tell us how you view the situation?
• Would you tell us where you stand on it?

Roza: OK, and let’s do the last few.

• What’s your take on that?
• Thoughts?
• Hit me with your thoughts?
• Tell it to me straight?

Roza: Well guys, I got to tell it to you straight, you were awesome.

David: Very good work, everyone.

Ohnishi: Hey Roza, David always comes to the studio in the great gray jacket, what do you think?
