Opening
Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza. Ready for today’s lesson?
David: And I’m David Evans. Let’s get ready to go.
Ohnishi:
Roza: You know, our text is surprisingly tasty these days, but please don’t eat it.
Practice 8:25
Roza: OK guys, it’s time to practice. Here, I want you to imagine your friend running in a race. That’s the feeling that I want you to keep in mind as you practice.
David: Nice image, Roza. These phrases all have a feeling of continuing to do something. So, imagine the relay or the tug-of-war when someone is in the middle of something, we use these phrases. Let’s practice, master them, and use them when you can.
Here we go.
- Stick with it!
Roza: Let’s continue.
- Stick to your guns!
- Stay the course!
- Keep at it!
David: Great work so far. We use these the same way that we use がんばれ in Japanese. So, use the same emotion, OK? Let’s continue.
- Give it all you’ve got!
- Give it your best shot!
- Go, Hiroshi!
- Do your best!
Roza: Well, I can see that you all gave it your best shot as you practiced. Great work.
David: That’s right everyone. Stay the course and keep at it.
Ending
David: Well, hang in there Sensei. You can’t quit, come on, don’t give up, you can do it.
Roza: Yeah, no one loses weight overnight, you know.
Ohnishi:
All: Bye.
