Practice 9:10

David: OK, it’s time for today’s practice. These phrases express hesitation. Hesitation is a normal, natural and valid human emotion and it’s very important to be able to express that feeling in English and any language, so let’s master these phrases. Here we go.

  • I’m hesitant to do that.
  • I hesitate to do that.

Roza: Let’s try the next couple.

  • I’m not ready to do that.

Let’s try another version.

  • I’m not ready for that.

David: Let’s continue.

  • I’m still on the fence about that.

Let’s try one more time.

  • I’m still on the fence about that.

Roza: And our last example.

  • I’m still on the fence about that. It’s a complicated issue.

Let’s try one last time.

  • I’m still on the fence about that. It’s a complicated issue.

David: Hum, should we do the practice one more time? I’m still on the fence.

David: Sounds good. Let’s keep going.

Roza: Great job, everyone.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey David, I’m hesitant to say what I think. I don’t want to hurt your feelings.

David: Oh well, please don’t hesitate to hesitate to tell me that.

Ohnishi: What do you think about that, Roza?

Roza: Hum, I’m not ready to talk about that. I don’t know all the facts, yet.

Ohnishi: 誰も何も言わないんじゃん。というわけで、今日はこの辺で。

All: Bye.
