Opening

David: All right, it’s time for lesson strawberry eight.

Ohnishi: What does that mean?

David:

David: And I’m David Evans. I’ve done the same thing.

Roza: I prefer 一期一会. This is Akino Roza.

Practice 9:30

David: OK everyone, today’s 現在完了形 is about experience. Experiences are like trophies. The action is complete but you have the trophy now on a shelf, on display. So, let’s practice those together.

Roza: Ready to practice guys? Repeat after us.

  • Have you ever been there?

Another one.

  • Have you been there before?

David: Great work. Let’s keep going.

  • I’ve never climbed Mt. Fuji.

Roza: And one more, which is a conversation, practice both parts.

  • Ever been there? – No. Never been there.

Once more.

  • Ever been there? – No. Never been there.

David: Unlock your potential.

Roza: Repetition is the key.

Both: Great work.

Grammar in Action

Have you owned a pet before? It’s not easy as you think.

Have you ever ~ だったか

I’ve never ate ひっぱりうどん but I heard that it’s wonderful.

Have you ever been there? I’m thinking go (時間切れ)

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey David, how did you hear about ひっぱりうどん?

David: Ah, I’ve heard about it from different videos, and travel diaries, it looks pretty interesting, have you ever tried it?

Ohnishi: No. Have you, Roza?

Roza: No, but if it’s so popular, probably it’s like ひっぱりだこ.

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.
