Opening

Onishi: いやぁ中央線に乗ると、いつも高尾山まで行きたくなっちゃうんですよね。

Roza: へぇ、行ったことあるの?

Onishi: ない。

ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。

Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David: And I'm David Evans.

Onishi: それでは、さっそく始めていきましょう。

grab a seat 2:20

Ohnishi: Hey David, what's the difference between "grab a seat" and "take a seat"?

David: Ah, "take a seat" is very formal. It's like 着席. So, "grab a seat" is much more casual. It's more appropriate here.

Grasp the Concept
  • I met him on my way home.
  • I'm on good terms with my neighbors.
  • My parents keep on telling me to speak clearly.

Roza: Fantastic.

Practical Usage

気が向いたときに・・・これはディクテーションじゃなくて、自分の答えです。

I'm on good terms with my colleagues but only one I'm not. He always (割り込む) on the meeting. If he continues on (時間切れ)

ダメダメですねー

Pronunciation Polish 13:20

David: OK, it's time for today's pronunciation polish. Are you ready? Frist, let's take a look at today's sentence. My parents keep on telling me to speak clearly ...

All right, today there are two focus points, so let's zoom in. First is keep on. Let's link these sounds, OK? keep_on ... All right, next is speak clearly. These two words have the same sound so, let's link them. speak_clearly ...

All right, good job so far, now let's try them in the sentence.

  • My parents keep_on telling me to speak_clearly.

Did you do it? Let's try one more time.

  • My parents keep_on telling me to speak_clearly.

Fantastic work today. Don't worry, if you can't master it at first. Just keep practicing and you'll get there.

Ending

Onishi: あーあ、高尾山、行きたいなぁ。

Roza: Well, I guess that's your plan for the diet.

David: Good luck, out there.

Onishi: いやいやぼくは、景色を楽しみにだね、、、というわけで、今日はこの辺で。

All: Bye.
