Opening

Onishi: ♪Whoa, we’re half way there …

Roza and David: ♪Whoa oh, livin’ on a prayer …

Roza: Hey everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David: And I’m David Evans.

Onishi:

Grasp the Concept
  • Why don’t we stay at the Hotel New Onishi?
  • We will stay quiet.
  • I stayed up late waiting for him.

Roza: Great job.

Practical Usage

Thanks for inviting me, but I will stay in home. I was staying out late and I lost the last train.  I had to stay at the capsule hotel.

the, a, my の使い方難しいですね ^^

Pronunciation Polish 12:15

Roza: OK everyone. Are you ready for another round of pronunciation polish? Here is today’s sentence. “I just want to remain here for a while” …

The scene where the sentence is used is a very serious one, so I want you to focus on the emotion of this feeling as we practice.

Today’s practice points are all points that you’ve already done, the disappearing t, the linking, and the /ə/ sound. All right, so let’s practice together. Here we go. Repeat after me.

want to … I just want to … for a … for a while … I just want to – remain here for a while …

OK, listen to the rhythm, OK? repeat.

  • I just want to remain here for a while.

One more time.

  • I just want to remain here for a while.

Do you see how natural you’re sounding, great work. Keep it up.

Ending

Onishi: Hey David, why did you use “my”, in “my last train”?

David: Ah, instead of “the last train”? Ah, say, that’s very interesting. The last train is the final train on the schedule, but my last train is for me to get home, so my last train maybe isn’t the last train, but it’s the last train I can use.

Onishi: Right, so it’s like 9:30 train from Shibuya, right?

David: Ah yeah, if the last train is 11:45, maybe my last train is at 10:00 pm.

Onishi:

All: Bye.
