大西先生、デイビッドさん、ろーざさんの英会話部分を書きとってみましょう!(大西先生のギャグもできるだけ書きとります)

Opening

Onishi: さぁ今日は、リズの登場です。

ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。

Roza: Hi, I'm Akino Liz, I mean, Roza.

David: And I'm David Evans. Ah, yeah, but I get what she means. It's a nice looking car.

Onishi: それでは、さっそくはじめていきましょう。

Essential Expressions

I don't get it.

  • I don't quite understand.
  • I'm not following.
  • I don't see your point.
  • I'm not convinced.

Roza: Excellent.

Practical Usage

これはディクテーションじゃなくて、自分の作文です

Sorry, but I can't believe you. You said the same thing before, didn't you? Maybe I need to call teacher.

teacherの前にyourがあった方がいいですね

Pronunciation Polish 12:35

David: OK everyone. It's time for today's pronunciation polish. Are you ready? Great. Here is today's phrase.

  • I don't get it.

All right. It's short but sweet. So, let's practice it and master this together.

First up, the /t/ sound in don't will disappear. don't ... I don't ...

All right. Next, we'll join up get and it, it will sound like this. get it ... don't get it ...

  • I don't get it.

All right. Let's speed that up a bit.

  • I don't get it.

All right. There is one extra way we can say this even more smoothly. It's very common for younger kids to speak like this.

  • I don't get it.

All right. Now you have two different ways to express that you don't get it. Ha ha. Great work today, guys.

Ending

Onishi: Ah, do I need to call your teacher? it's a common threat to kids, right?

David: Well, yeah, I mean, don't tell the kids this, but it's probably just a bluff, you know?

Onishi: Oh, yeah.

David: Or a little はったり here and there.

Roza: And actually, the fact that it's just a threat and not an actual question is evident in the intonation. We didn't say "Do I need to call your teacher?" we said "Do I need to call your teacher?" You feel it like just hanging in the air.

Onishi: Oh, the intonation tells that it's just a warning.

Roza: That's right.

Onishi: All right. というわけで、今日はこの辺で。

All: Bye.

ちょっと自信ないです → just hanging in there では?というご指摘ありました
