Opening
Ohnishi: ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。
プロポーズかぁ、お寿司屋さんでしちゃあダメですよね。イクラでもアガリます。
Roza: そうだよね、それをサケないとダメだね。あきのろーざです。
Chris: Chris McVay here. Those openings are unique (ウニーク).
Ohnishi: さぁそれでは、さっそく始めていきましょう
“pop the question” 4:40
Ohnishi: Why do you use “pop” here?
Chris: One explanation is the actual word “pop”. It’s something which happens as surprised suddenly so, huh … “Will you marry me?” And Roza, you have another image, right?
Roza: Yes, for me the “pop” refers to the sound that the engagement ring box makes when you open it, pop!
as surprised suddenly はちょっと自信ないです。

Ohnishi: Hey Chris, tell me where did you pop the question?
Chris: Well, my answer is not very romantic because I can’t remember. But, but but … my excuse is it was over forty-five years ago, OK?
Ohnishi: Right.
Roza: What about you, Sensei?
Ohnishi: Oh, I don’t remember either.
