Opening

Roza:

Roza: Thanks for joining us again. This is Roza Akino.

Chris: Hey listeners, Chris McVay here. You know, nobody listens to me. It’s like I’m talking to myself.

Ohnishi: It’s only natural, isn’t it?

Chris: You see what I mean?

Ohnishi:

“He wasn’t holding a phone” 4:38

Ohnishi: So, is it possible to use “have” like “He wasn’t having a phone”?

Roza: No, it’s not possible. Please don’t ever use it like that.

Chris: Impossible!

Practice 8:50

Chris: OK guys, are you ready to practice? As usual, catch the native speaker’s feeling about sentences. “He was walking in the park, talking to himself”. Now we want to explain the main part, “He was walking in the park”, and something is happening at the same time, so we can use -ing, “talking to himself”. “He was walking in the park”, and at the same time, “talking to himself”. Are you ready to practice? After me, “He was waking in the park, talking to himself” with that feeling, go!

Not so bad, a little bit more this feeling of something happening at the same time with -ing? “He was waling in the park, talking to himself”, last chance, go!

Now, you’ve got it. Great, well done.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey guys, do you make video calls often?

Roza: Well, I don’t but I know Chris dose, right?

Chris: Yeah, I do because that’s the way I connect with my brothers and friends overseas especially.

Ohnishi: Right.

Roza: What about you, Sensei?

Ohnishi: As I told you, I have no friends.

Chris: Ah, that’s right. Now I remember.

Roza: Well, you can call yourself from oneself onto another.

Ohnishi: Oh, that’s a good idea.

・・・

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.
