Chris: OK guys, let’s practice. As usual, the most important point is to catch the native speaker’s rhythm. And the rhythm here is simply … one – two, one – two. One; the main phrase followed by two; the explanation. So, with this in mind, let’s practice together. “I have a lot of things” … but what things? … “to do”. “I have a lot of things … to do”, are you ready? Let’s go. “I have a lot of things to do”.

Once more, catch that rhythm. The position is really important, the main phrase followed by explanation, “I have a lot of things to do”.

Excellent, well done. Remember, the order is the key.

Ohnishi: Hey Chris, you like writing example sentences of school plays, right?

Chris: Yeah, I guess I do.

Ohnishi: Have you ever played the role of a protagonist?

Chris: Yes, I have actually the most challenging role I played was the role of Creon in a French drama called Antigone. There were fifteen pages for one speech, so it killed me.

Roza: What about you, Sensei?

Ohnishi: Yeah, I played the role of a stone, a tree, something like that.

Chris: Challenging, right?

Ohnishi: Oh, it is.

Roza: I think that was probably much harder than Chris’s fifteen pages of dialog.
