Opening
Ohnishi: えぇ、若い人は特にですねぇ、May all your dreams come true. この文句がですねぇとてもお好きなようですね。私も、えぇしばしば受け取る手紙に May all your dreams come true. と書いてあったりするわけですが、あれまぁうれしんだけどちょっとヤなんですよね。
Roza: なんで？
Ohnishi: いやぁ僕、悪夢しか見ないんですよ。

Roza: Hey everyone. Akino Roza here. Welcome back to our lesson.
Chris: Hi guys. Chris McVay here. Well, it’s a bit of a nightmare walking with you two, to talk about the truth but ah, ….
Roza: Us two? Don’t put me together with him?
Ohnishi: Him? Talking about me?
Chris: Guys, guys, guys, we all love each other, right? Let’s get started.
Ohnishi: さぁそれでは急いで始めましょう。
to talk about the truth のところは、正直なんて言ってるか分からないです。

Practice 8:45
Chris: OK guys, it’s time to practice the key sentence. “You may use a dictionary during the test.” First of all, get the native speaker’s feeling about this as usual. “May”, it’s like opening a door, “どうぞ“. You are giving permission to do something. But the main point we want to stress here today is … it’s a top-down permission. For example, a student would not say, “Teacher, you may begin the class”, right? That would be rather crazy. So, it’s somebody with authority that give permission using “may”. So, with that in mind, let’s practice this key sentence, “You may use a dictionary during the test.” Try it?
OK, so you’ve got that feeling someone in authority top-down? “You may use a dictionary during the test.” Once more.
