Hey everyone. Akino Roza here. Ready for today’s lesson?

Chris: Hi guys. I’m Chris McVay. Roza, can I ask you for some advice?

Roza: Sure, I hope I can help.

Chris: Anyway, it doesn’t matter. I’m just practicing ….

Ohnishi:

Roza: If you are not sure what to do next about your English practice, check out our textbook. There can never be enough Radio Eikaiwa textbooks.

Chris: Great.

Practice 10:35

Chris: OK guys. Are you ready to practice the key sentence? As always, the most important thing is to grasp the native speaker’s feeling. And in order to do this, let’s compare “I will start …” with “I would start …”. If you say “I will start …”, it’s just a statement of fact what you are going to do. But if you say “I would start …”, there is a hidden condition. It means “If I were you, I would ….” So, with that feeling in mind, let’s practice the key sentence together. “I would start by making some pencil sketches of the scenes.” Go!

Yes, remember “If I were you …”. “I would start by making some pencil sketches of the scenes.” One last time, go!

Well done, guys.

compare A with B ですね。

Ending

Chris: Well, guys, if I were you, I would set aside some time to study English every day. OK?

Roza: And be sure to listen to our program every day.

All: Bye.
