Hey everyone. Akino Roza here.

Chris: Chris McVay here. Roza, congratulations.

Roza: For what?

Chris: Just practicing ….

Roza: Ah ….

Ohnishi:

Chris: Well, it seems like our textbook is very popular. I suggest checking it out.

Roza: Sure.

Practice 10:07

Chris: OK guys, it’s practice time. Recommend, suggest … hum, well, both are about offering your proposal for something. But suggest is far more casual and general while recommend often or usually even includes personal experience … you recommend something because you’ve already experienced it. OK, so with that in mind, let’s practice these together.

Roza: I recommend thinking only in English during this practice.

Chris: That’s an excellent recommendation, Roza.

Roza: I know.

Chris: So, let’s do it, “recommend vegan ramen”, “recommend a film”. So, you’ve already seen the film, therefor based on your experience, you recommend it.

Next one, “recommend an Italian restaurant”, “recommend London”. And of course, here is the best one, are you ready after me, “recommend Radio Eikaiwa”.

Roza: Continuing on, “I recommend that you stop smoking.” “I recommend going there.”

Chris: OK guys, now let’s practice suggest, “suggest a plan”, “suggest Ken as the team leader”.

OK and try this last one, “suggest Zo Zoo for your first date”.

Roza: And a couple more, “I suggest you go to the gym every day.”

And the last one, “May I suggest meeting at Hotel New Onishi at 3 p.m.?”

Chris: OK, great guys. Well done.

Roza: Excellent work.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey guys, I can’t wait to see what will happen with Barbara and Takuma.

Chris: Well, you know, I think Barbara is a dangerous woman so, watch out Takuma!

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.

Roza: See you next time.
