Opening
Ohnishi: 財布に優しいラジオ英会話星占い。今日もっとも運勢のいい星座はさそり座、ラッキーアイテムは・・・
Roza: アイテムは・・・
Ohnishi: 空気。
ラジオ英会話、ハートでつかめ英語の極意、講師の大西泰斗です。
Roza: あーぁ、先生、さすがに空気読めないですね。
Ohnishi: なんだそれ。
Roza: Akino Roza here.
Chris: What’s happening, what’s happening? Ah, me too, I’m KY. Chris McVay here.
Ohnishi: さぁそれでは、さっそく始めていきましょう。

Roza: Hey guys, check out our textbook. Ohnishi-Sensei’s face on the cover will greet you with a smile.
Practice 9:30
Chris: It’s practice time. Here we go. Now we all know already that the basic image of with is togetherness. So, it is only natural that we can use it to express two events happening at the same time. So, let’s practice that together.
Roza: And remember to think in English.
Chris: Here we go, “Wine improves with age.” So, age is going along and wine following the same direction happening at the same time. Here we go, once more after me, “Wine improves with age.”
Roza: Continuing on, “He is in bed with the flu.” So, here too, we have two things going on at the same time. “He is in bed with the flu.” Let’s try one more time, “He is in bed with the flu.”
Next example, “I can’t concentrate with all this noise.” One last time, “I can’t concentrate with all this noise.”
Chris: OK, one last one, “She greeted me with a smile on her face.” The greeting, the smile on a face, moving along together at the same time. That’s all. So once more after me, “She greeted me with a smile on her face.”
Excellent.
Roza: That was wonderful and I’m sure you only improve with time.
最初、to express to events ~ としていましたが、to express two events ~ ですね。ツィッターで教えてもらいました。
going alone かと思いましたが、going along と思い直しました。
too と two が並んでて紛らわしいですね。
Ending
Ohnishi: Hey Chris, you are like good red wine. You improve with age.
Chris: Oh, thank you. Now, my face is going red with embarrassment.
Roza: Hey Sensei.
Ohnishi: なになに？
Roza: You are like a grape, you get more wrinkly with age.
・・・・・
Ohnishi: というわけで今日はこの辺で。
All: Bye.
先生の解説が無かったら wrinkle にたどり着けなかったかも。
で、最初 get wrinkle としていましたが、ツイッターで get wrinkly のように聞こえる、というご意見も。確かに get の後で形容詞がいいような気もします。
英辞郎で見てみると、get wrinkles や get wrinkled は出てくるけど get wrinkle はなさそう。get wrinkly も英辞郎では出てこないんですが、ググるとそういう使い方もありそう、みたいな感じでした。
