Opening

Roza:

Roza:

Ohnishi: 「

Roza: Hey everyone. Akino Roza here.

Chris: Chris McVay here. I can’t add anything to that. Let’s just get started.

Ohnishi:

“all the people” 2:25

Roza: Well basically, it’s embracing the view of “all the people” in front of you.

Chris: Yeah, I agree. It doesn’t necessarily mean literally “all”, but it’s this impression, wow …, all the people.

Practice 9:05

Chris: OK guys, are you ready to practice? Today, we’ll introduce another linking word … it’s “while” …, and this basically links two events happening at the same time.

Are we ready to practice? Yes, let’s go.

  • Please water my plants while I’m away.

So here, we have “water my plants” … event 1, “I’m away” … event 2, and “while” links them together, so one more time,

  • Please water my plants while I’m away.

Roza: Next example,

  • While I was studying abroad, I made many friends.

One more time,

  • While I was studying abroad, I made many friends.

Chris: OK, and the last one. This one is all about contrast.

  • I’m a big fan of sake, while my wife prefers wine.

OK? one more time together, here we go,

  • I’m a big fan of sake, while my wife prefers wine.

You did a great job today.

Roza: Excellent work.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey Chris, you are a big fan of Okinawa, right?

Chris: Yes, and especially, the islands like Ishigaki-jima, I love it.

Roza: You know, I’ve never been to Okinawa before.

Ohnishi: Me neither.

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.
