Chris: Hello everyone. I’m Chris McVay. Yes, let’s enjoy our English practice together.

Ohnishi: さぁそれでは、さっそく始めていきましょう。

Chris: OK guys, it’s practice time again. Today we are going to focus on “though” and “although”. Now, these introduce an element that seems to go against the main flow, but in fact, doesn’t stop it.

OK, let’s practice together.

• Though I was tried a tired, I kept on studying.

So, you think I’m tired so I won’t keep on studying but no, the main flow continues. So, a couple more,

• Though I was sleepy, I kept on studying.
• Though I was a bit bored, I kept on studying.

Roza: OK, next example,

• He doesn’t speak a word of Japanese, though he’s lived in Japan for ten years.

Great, now let’s try this example with “although”.

• He doesn’t speak a word of Japanese, although he’s lived in Japan for ten years.

Chris: And the last one,

• Even thought it as raining hard, I played golf.

Again, you’d imagine raining hard so, the main flow of “playing golf” would stop, but no, the main flow continues.
