Practice 9:05

Chris: OK, practice time. Here we go. We are going to focus on “thought” again today. And this time, we are highlighting the lightness of this word, and because of its lightness, its flexibility, it can be at the beginning of a sentence, in the middle, or at the end. So, it’s really useful when you get the hang of it.

Let’s practice together.

Roza: Remember, to think in English, guys. Ready?

Chris: OK,

  • Ben is a good student. He can be a bit careless, though.
  • Ben is a good student. He is not so popular, though.

Roza: All right guys, let’s continue.

  • Chris is a funny though strict teacher.

Let’s try one more time,

  • Chris is a funny though strict teacher.

One more example,

  • His English improved steadily though slowly.

Chris: OK, and now an example in the middle of the sentence,

  • John, though he hardly ever studies, passed the test.

Roza: And our last example,

  • Though it may seem strange, ~.

One more time,

  • Though it may seem strange, ~.

Chris: OK guys, I hope you’ve got used to the flexibility of this word “though”. Practice, practice, practice.

Roza: That’s right. You did great.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey guys, we call elephants ぞう, though.

・・・・・

Ohnishi: というわけで、今日はこの辺で。

All: Bye.
