Roza: Hi guys. Akino Roza here. Are you ready for today’s lesson?

Chris: Hi guys. Chris McVay here. Sorry, I’ll just go to the restroom before we start, OK?

Roza: You can.

Chris: I’m just practicing.

Ohnishi:

Practice 9:45

Chris: OK guys, are you ready to practice? Today, let’s look at some prepositions like “before, after, until, since” that are used to connect sentences. OK? That’s the key, connecting sentences.

So, here we go.

  • I couldn’t move after I had spent five hours planting rice.

OK, so “after” and followed a full sentence, the two sentences are connected using “after”.

Once more,

  • I couldn’t move after I had spent five hours planting rice.

Roza: OK, our next example will use “until”.

  • I’ll take care of your medaka until you come back.

Do you see the connection there? I’ll take care of your medaka – you come back – and “until” links them.

Let’s try one more time.

  • I’ll take care of your medaka until you come back.

Chris: OK, and one more,

  • It’s been four years since we last met.

Try that again?

  • It’s been four years since we last met.

Great job.

Roza: Excellent work.

Ending

Ohnishi: Hey Chris, I’ll give you a hand after I finish this email but I think this email will take me forever.

Chris: That means you don’t really want to help me, right?

Ohnishi: That’s what I thought.

Roza: Don’t warry Chris, I’ll help you out.

Ohnishi:

All: Bye.
